Day 11: Have Fun
It’s Friday, so I’m going to keep this brief. As you try every day to make the small changes which will eventually lead to the big changes you yearn for, remember, as much as possible…to have some fun with things! I don’t know about you, but life is a lot of work. Relationships are a lot of work. Living in New York, a city full of chuckleheads is a ton of work! That’s why fun is so important. Fun is crucial.
One of the many reasons I started this business–besides my inability to hear one more TV reporter say, “Um, Carlota, like can I ask you a stupid question?” because, newsflash, ALL the reporters’ questions were moronic and made me lose whatever small, oh so small hope I had left for the human race…sigh.–was because I wanted to have more fun. I wanted to make a difference, and help people achieve their fullest potential, and recycle and pollute less, yadda yadda yadda.. but I really wanted to have some fun. After 10 years in TV news, and law school, I had this wild and crazy hankering to oh, I don’t know, enjoy my f**king life, before I ended up in a bell-tower taking shots at politicians. (I mean, hey: I went to a women’s college, but I have no desire to end up in prison, with a roommate who’s a big fan of Gertrude Stein and/or the WNBA. Orange jumpsuits don’t bring out my best side. Also, too many carbs.)
So, I started this business. I committed to having fun. And thus my hint for this Friday, January 11, 2013: Make the time to have fun. Living is hard. Changing your life is extra hard. So be good to yourself, reward yourself with fun. Because if life is all struggle, and misery and desperation…soon, you won’t want to bother anymore. You’ll get exhausted, and disappointed and you’ll tune out and decide to be like all those idiots who live vicariously through the crap acting/writing on TV. Don’t do it! Pencil in some time for fun, try new things and understand, crucially, that changing your life is a process, and it takes time. So do what you can today and pat yourself on the back, have a drink or two and relax. Tomorrow’s another day. It will happen. I promise you.
Want some help with that fun? Email me @carlotazee@gmail.com, or tell me in the comments about how much you love the WNBA…I’ll still help you, not your fault.
