31 Days 2 Get You Started! January 31: Commit. (Again.)

Dear Jebus, has it already really been 31 days? Are we only hours away from the end of the first month of January 2014?? I feel old. Again. But also, since I spent the month working my ass off, I’m feeling kind of awesome, since so many things have already happened this month, and so many other things are starting to break through!

That wasn’t a brag, humble or otherwise; it was simply a testament to what happens when you commit to yourself, and your goals, and allow yourself to succeed: you do. Also: I’ve been working on this business for 5 years. 5 years without enough sleep, or a vacation, or anything but determination and grit, and a lot of cat-hair. Therefore, please don’t read this and feel discouraged; I’m here to get you MOTIVATED. I’m truly hoping that some of you are maybe having the same feelings of strength, of empowerment, that sense of recognizing all that you can do tomorrow by committing today.

“The more we did, the more we were able to do.” Vaclav Havel. A wonderful quote for so many reasons, and not just because Havel went from being a playwright dissident to running his own country ( as a former playwright, all I can say is, “Aim high, motherfuckers, for reals!”), but because it’s so true.  If you committed to yourself over the past 31 days, even if there were false starts, and mistakes, and days of feeling terror or frustration or boredom, and days when nothing much happened…that’s fine. That’s all part of the process of re-conditioning yourself.  You’ve had 31 days to get yourself started. Somewhere, in all of that, I suspect it probably felt damn good to do, or even start doing, what you always knew you could. Best of all, I hope that the past 31 days got you believing in yourself. You are all you need to do all that is within you.
