Career Building via Social
So excited to announce this! Last year, I applied for, and received a Nokia Scholarship to attend Social Media Week 2014 here in NYC. This year, my biz partner Marie Segares suggested, casually, that we take SMW up on their expressed call for diverse, interesting panels and make them a pitch. We did…and they called our bluff: Career Building via Social Media!
I’ll be moderating a great panel with Marie, Kate Hendricks, Emily Colucci and Chitra Ganesh. If all of those smart women isn’t enough reason for you to leave your lair during the doldrums of February… we might have alcohol. (As sh*t gets real, real quick!)
Anyway, I’m excited about this event for so many reasons, but crucially because it was another instance of me forcing myself far, FAR out of my comfort zone–I hit “send” on that email, with my palms sweating and my heart in my throat–and it worked! Something to consider next time you’re telling yourself all the usual (and tedious) reasons as to why why you couldn’t possibly succeed at something you want. Maybe, maybe not. Why not just try?
