Cruel Summer
Just a “gentle” reminder: If you are currently in the (on-going) process of networking to change or improve your career, you really need to stop procrastinating/whining/crying/ and get started on that TODAY. Because July 4th is right around the corner. Which means that many, if not most, of the people you need to connect with, are soon going to be leaving for vacation, or at least will be unavailable for those informational meetings which can lead to real opportunities. Think about it: When was the last time you wanted to interrupt your vacation, or even stay-cation, or even just getting drunk at 3pm in the afternoon on the sofa (#goodtimes), to help someone else network? Yeah, that would be “never gonna happen, forget it.”
Which means that you’ll have to re-contact them in the fall, since these people probably won’t remember who you are and what you wanted. And then you, dear Jebus, have to start the process ALL over again and somehow attempt to recapture your momentum. Which means if you don’t get those emails and calls out TODAY, it could very well be the middle of September and you’re still stuck at a job you, to put it mildly, dislike. Not much happy happy joy joy…right? Instead, how about you save both me and you the agony and heartbreak and general tsoursis and DO IT TODAY!
