31 Days 2 Get You Started! January 11: Don’t Talk Yourself Out of Opportunities!

This should be obvious, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t need to be said: as you go about the process of improving your life, it helps to not talk yourself out of opportunities that could change your life. Don’t be one of those tiresome people who bitch constantly about their life/weight/relationship/education/whatever, but whenever someone makes a (constructive) suggestion, saying, for example, “How about you apply to be a [whatever]?,” immediately reject the idea. Whatever it is, is rejected.

Don’t be one of those people who immediately start picking any and all suggestions apart, finding fault with it. Ugh, so tedious. Life doesn’t owe you a damn thing, nor do your friends, so next time a friend suggests applying for a particular job, or going to a party, or in some way tries to help you get out of your own way, for once, just shut up and give yourself 100%. Stop fighting all of your opportunities before they’ve had a minute to stretch their wings and look around. The people who do that end up alone, broke, sad and extremely depressed. You deserve better than that.

If you want a better job, for example, and someone offers to introduce you to someone, or points you in the direction of some kind of opportunity…why not check it out? What’s the harm? You might not get the job? Okay…but you might. Or, it might you to some other kind of possibility you can envision right now. You know where constantly finding fault with opportunities will lead you? Nowhere. And going someplace is better than being stuck nowhere. There’s enough people in this world who will happily be your worst enemy, you don’t need to help them.  Stop fighting opportunities, and allow them to start blossoming.
