31 Days 2 Get You Started! January 12: Have Confidence in Yourself!
Again, another post that I almost feel silly writing, but it is crucially important. Without confidence, forget it, you’ll never accomplish all of your goals. In fact, without confidence, you won’t be able to articulate your goals because even as you’ll be yearning for something, another part of your brain will be thinking,”…how the f**k am I ever going to be able to do that?” And suddenly, you feel deflated and stupid and you’re stuck. You’re stuck in your negative conditioning.
If you had the confidence you should have, instead of seeing everything as a problem or an obstacle, you’d see things as challenges and opportunities. You’d realize that while you’re not 100% sure how exactly you’re going to achieve your goals, you’re damn well not going to give up, so one way or another, you’ll make it happen. (And I’ll be in the Yenta in the background, sniveling with pride, as “Wind Beneath My Wings” plays, pretending no, no, I’m not crying, someone must be chopping onions, don’t mind me.)
The only different, I swear to Yahweh, between you and someone you admire/envy is that person had confidence. I don’t know about you, but one reason I committed to this business is because I saw so many morons people coaching, wasting people’s time with horrible advice. I saw so many “coaches” who were too stupid to see how incompetent they were, and I thought, “…seriously?” Listen, I am a compassionate, nurturing person, dammit, but my empathy does not extend to incompetent morons. I’m not Jesus Christ, though I can see why you might be confused. (Ha!)
Start small with your goals, so that you can grow your confidence. Let your small successes remind you of why you started out, and that yes, you know all you think you do, and more. Have confidence in yourself so that others can also have it. And then be patient with yourself. Confidence can’t grow without patience. And you can’t grow without confidence!
