31 Days 2 Get You Started! January 8: Don’t Ask If You’re Sure Things Will Work!

If you’re embarking on any project, don’t bother asking yourself if you’re sure that it will work because, spoiler alert: of course you can’t be sure. The only things you can be sure of in this world are death, taxes and cat hair. Besides that, you’re on your own, kid;  it’s up to you be the change you want to see in the world, as the hippies used to say. So no, you can’t be sure, you’ll never be sure of anything, you simply have to do. You simply have to get started. The more you do, the more you’ll be able to do and the less you’ll question yourself, but at the beginning, you have to trust your gut. Get started! On the other hand, if you don’t get started, you can be sure you’ll never achieve anything, n’est pas?

Because, if you ask yourself if anything is going to work out, you’re probably going to talk yourself out of an excellent adventure that might not have worked out exactly as you anticipated, but probably could have worked out in ways you currently couldn’t imagine. I speak from personal experience. If I had been less determined/desperate (#samedifference) 5 years ago, I wouldn’t have started this business. Drowning in law school debt, with no business experience whatsoever…how could the business ever work out? And yet now I’m getting opportunities that 5 years ago would simply have been unimaginable.

Also, if you’re asking other people if they think you can succeed, let’s face it, you’re asking for someone’s permission to succeed. Read my lips: That. Is. Horseshit. You’re the one who is going to have to bust your ass, you’re the only person whose permission you need. Look at yourself in the mirror and give yourself the permission you need to be your own warrior-hero.

You’ve got so many exciting opportunities ahead of you! Give yourself the permission and approval you crave and get. To. Work! #rightnow
