31 Days 2 Get You Started! January 13: “Just to See.”

If you, like me, have ever knowingly hit “send,” on an resume you knew wasn’t ready to be seen…or talked yourself out of a job-offer…or generally chosen to half-ass to death a promising opportunity, and if, instead of taking responsibility for your poor choices, you said something along the lines of, “Well, so what? It doesn’t really matter, I just did it to see.” Oh stop. See what? See if the voices inside of your head, telling you that you’re a loser and that your dreams will never become reality were right? I guess you showed them…oh wait.

You know me; I’m obsessed with helping people stop being their own worst enemies, and embrace their potential and take back their power. I’m obsessed with that because I know allllll about how miserable it feels to be on the other side, to feel trapped, and helpless and useless. To sabotage yourself. I’ve done all of that. That shit was boring!

That’s probably why, when people sabotage themselves and shrug, “Oh, whatever Carlota, who cares? I just wanted to see, I’m so super busy anyway,” that must be why when I hear that horseshit I get very angry. And you wouldn’t like me when I’m angry. It’s not a hot look.

Don’t cheat yourself out of the opportunities you need to experience your fullest potential. Don’t sabotage yourself, and then compound that insult by refusing to own up to it! You deserve better! Be honest with yourself, look your fear and shame and self-loathing squarely in the face so you can master them, so that the next time you will triple-check your resume. So that the next time, when somebody offers to put in a good word for you at a company you’re interested in, you’ll say, “That’d be great; here’s some detailed, relevant information about me and my background and all that I offer the company.”  So that the next time you spy the grab ring, you. Go. For. It!

Because when you sabotage yourself, what exactly is there left to see? I’d think it would be a pretty boring sight. I think you deserve a much better view.
